When a child approaches a piano she usually plays random keys with no particular rhythm. I tried to capture that in this piece. I wanted the tune to have a bit of a random feel, with a loose tempo. Eventually bringing it together toward the end. I did two versions of this. One with mandolin, to fill it out and give it a hint of the folksiness we are after on the show, and one that is minimalistic. Just piano. With this piece I'm trying to capture the magic of a childlike discovery.
